Community Potluck Picnic, August 3, 3-5pm

Callie and Kevin at 743 Fox Trot Way have generously offered to hold this year’s community picnic at their place. Tables and chairs will be provided, but extras are always welcome.

Guests are encouraged to bring a salad, appetizer, or dessert.

Please RSVP to lbcaboard@hotmail.com. Let us know if you’re coming, if you can volunteer for set-up or clean-up, or if you can bring a pop-up sunshade.

Website updates

You may notice that there are a few minor changes to the website. It has been suggested by several community members that we adopt the heron logo and tagline “Living in Harmony with Nature.” I’ve made that change, and we will continue to use the heron logo. Now that we have a better idea of the kinds of content that we’ll be posting on the website, I’ve done a little reorganizing. The Documents tab will include different categories of information, such as the association cc&rs and bylaws and any legal opinions. The Shoreline Information tab will include communication from Island County as well as helpful suggestions for native plants and sustainable practices. I’ve added a Committee tab for information about the Community Property Committee and the Election Committee.

Moving forward: if you have a good picture of the bay, think about sending it to me for posting. I’d like to start collecting photos on the blog.

Important Action Needed to Receive LBCA Information by Email

In order to comply with state law, and best serve the community members, the LBCA will need to keep member preferences for communication on file. If you wish to continue to receive LBCA-related documents via email, please complete the attached consent form and return to the email or address provided on the form. A link to the form is below and will also be available in the Documents section of the website.

Community Property Committee Forming

On Sunday April 27, several community members attended a Town Hall meeting with the primary focus being Shoreline and Community Property Encroachments.

Prior to the meeting, four members of the community proposed the formation of a Community Property Committee, which would assist the board and the community in discussing ideas for moving forward with addressing encroachments.

During the meeting on Sunday, five additional members volunteered to join the committee, for a total of nine volunteers. Since Sunday, an additional three members have come forward for a total of 12. (A complete list of current committee membership can be found on the password-protected Documents page.)

If you are interested in being a committee member, please contact Dave by Friday, May 9th. (206.947.9478)

Washington Conservation Corps Beach Clean-up, April 28-May 1

The Washington Conservation Corps (WCC), a non-profit group, has obtained a federal grant which will provide resources for a full beach clean-up. There will not be a cost to LBCA for this clean-up as it is fully-funded by the federal government.

A work party of five employees and one site supervisor will be on site in the Livingston Bay area from April 28 thru May 1st.

WCC will be removing old tires, paper, plastic, bottles and cans from the beach and bay area extending from the east cul-de-sac to the area in front of lot 34 (far west end of LBSD).

This is a great opportunity to clean up the beach and the bay before the summer months. This group will gladly accept additional volunteers, so if you have a few hours to give, please consider lending a hand.

All the Best!  Dave
